(LAFAYETTE) - A Lafayette man will spend the next 32 years in prison for breaking into the home of a female friend last July and raping her.
24-year-old Steven Chavez was sentenced Friday.
The victim in the case wrote a letter to the court saying she'd like to see Chavez be incarcerated so he couldn't assault anyone else.
She was able to identify Chavez based on his voice and by matching his vehicle.
The two had known each other for years.
