(TERRE HAUTE) - There’s still no sign of an Indiana State University student, missing since early last Friday.
22 year old Gerald Smith of Avon was last seen leaving a tavern near the Terre Haute campus.
University students and other volunteers, along with faculty and staff, have joined law enforcement in trying to locate Smith.
Police followed a tip from someone who reported seeing someone matching Smith's description talking to someone in a car shortly after he left the tavern but they came up empty.
The campus and surrounding area has been searched.
The Indiana Department Of Natural Resources has been using sonar to search the Wabash River and a West Lafayette company has offered to help with an aerial search using heat-seeking cameras.
That was postponed Wednesday because of the rain.
University Spokesperson Tara Singer says there's no good reason to explain why Smith went off the grid.
She says he has so much to look forward to following his graduation this Saturday.
He had a verbal offer for a job in Wabash.
And he had planned to travel to Chicago next week for a friend's wedding.
Singer says there has been no activity on Smith's cell phone since he went missing.
Crimestoppers has contributed $1,000 toward a reward fund that's been set up.
