Despite All The Rain, Major Flooding Not A Concern

Last updated on Friday, May 15, 2009

(UNDATED) - It’s the most rain we’ve seen in central and southern Indiana since June of 2008.

Six inches fell on the north side of Bloomington and in places in Morgan, Owen, Daviess and southern Marion counties.

National Weather Service hydrologist says it's not as bad as last summer.

Most rivers and streams were below flood stage when the rain started to fall Wednesday, so most flooding will be confined to low lying areas over the next couple of days.

Still, at least four people have attempted to drive their vehicles through flooded roads, requiring emergency rescues.

More rain is forecast through Saturday, although it's not expected to fall as quickly as it did on Wednesday night into early Thursday.
