Cummins To Close Columbus Engine Plant

(COLUMBUS) - Cummins plans to close its Columbus Midrange Engine Plant at Walesboro, laying off about 610 workers.

The facility, which produces engines for Dodge Ram trucks, will be idled during the Chrysler bankruptcy.

Other job losses announced this morning include 30 at the fuel systems plant in Columbus as well as 30 at Columbus engine plant.

50 workers will also be laid off at the industrial center in Seymour.
