Chrysler Dealers To Be Trimmed Down

(UNDATED) - There are at least 21 Chrysler dealers in Indiana who are losing their sales and service dealer agreements in the bankruptcy of the company.

But most of them also sell other brands.

They'll remain in business, trying to make up for the lost Chryslers with those other sales.

Jasper car dealer Jeryl Lueger says that may be one reason why he and the others are on the list.

"The car companies don't like to see competitive brands on the same showroom floor", says Luegers.

He and his four brothers sell Buick, Gmc, Jeep and Pontiac vehicles at Bob Luegers motors.

They'll lose Pontiac at the end of next year.

General Motors is dropping the nameplate in its own effort to reinvent itself.

Luegers anticipates no layoffs in response to this latest setback, but he says it's probably too early to assess the situation.

The dealership has sold Jeep vehicles since 1973.

Those vehicles will be off the showroom floor by June 9th.
