Allison Transmissions Not Expected To Be Affected By GM Layoffs

Last updated on Friday, April 24, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Allison Transmission plant in Indianapolis builds transmissions for GM vehicles, but Allison does not anticipate layoffs at the plant.

Allison Spokesman Eric Dickerson says the International firm has been affected by recession, but has withstood the challenge because of "strong diversity."

Allison is involved in mining and other ventures, as well as building transmissions for military vehicles, fire trucks and school buses in addition to cars and trucks.
