A LaPorte Man's Abduction By Terrorists In 2005 Is Still An Active FBI Case

Last updated on Saturday, April 11, 2009

(LAPORTE) - Four years ago today, a LaPorte man was abducted while working as a contractor in Baghdad.

Four years later, 47-year-old Jeffrey Ake's status is still unknown.

Ake's family has chosen not to speak to the media about the LaPorte businessman's ordeal.

Those close to Ake's wife, Liliana, say she's very active in the community and doing her best to stay strong.

Shortly after Ake's disappearance on April 11, 2005, an image of him flanked by armed terrorists soon hit television airwaves around the world.

Since his absence, his company "Equipment Express", has been sold.

His wife works for Century 21 in LaPorte to support the couple's four children.

The FBI still looks at Ake's kidnapping as an active case.
