Vevay Up For America's "Coolest Small Town"

Last updated on Thursday, March 12, 2009

(VEVAY) - The small southeastern Indiana community of Vevay is in the running for Budget Travel Magazine’s “coolest small town.”

The publication is holding an online voting contest to determine the top ten spots in the United States, looking for communities with vibrant art and dining scenes that share a strong connection with nature.

Switzerland County Tourism Spokeswoman Kendall Miller says Vevay fits the bill. She says the town of 1,735 has one of the state's top ten gatherings, the Swiss Wine Festival in August. Miller also cites the community's restaurants, boutiques and friendly residents.

Vevay is currently in eighth place, just behind Crested Butte, Colorado.

To participate in the contest, you can log onto www.vevayin.com. The deadline to vote is April 3rd. The winner will be announced on April 13th.
