The producers called the Lafayette parks department because their fictitious city, called "Pawnee" is based on a city around the same size.

Lafayette's parks and recreation spokeswoman said the producers wanted pictures of their desks and vehicles.

The show which will be shot in mockumentary style, even has its own spoof website.

By the way, Pawnee's seal features a pioneer standing over a dead buffalo, while trees are cut down in the background, similar to Indiana's seal.
