Federal Assistance Available For Some In Southern Indiana

Last updated on Monday, March 16, 2009

(UNDATED) - Food pantries, homeless shelters, schools, and colleges in Southern Indiana are just a small sample of the groups who may be eligible for federal assistance in response to late January’s damaging ice storms.

Small Business Administration Communications Specialist Mark Ihenacho says the first step is to reach your local emergency management agency and obtain information about the local briefings.

He says low interest SBA loans and FEMA grants are available for qualifying agencies to help recoup the cost of physical property damage as well as economic injury expenses related to operating costs.

Affected counties include: Clark, Crawford, Dubois, Floyd, Gibson, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Orange, Perry, Spencer, Switzerland, Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Washington.
