(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Supreme Court is becoming more environmentally friendly.
The state has hired a computer whiz, who is also an attorney, to bring more technology to the court system.
Robert Rath's initial goal is to reduce paperwork. He is looking for ways to use technology in place of paper.
Rath is putting together a technology plan for the Supreme Court that would allow electronic files, meaning attorneys would be able to file court documents via email. The technological advance is not only expected to save money and paper, but should make the courts more efficient.
The National Center for State Courts (NCSC) recommended Indiana hire an appellate court IT Director. Rath began his new role January 12.
