Last updated on Saturday, February 28, 2009

(MUNCIE) -The mother of a Muncie middle school student could be headed to jail because her son missed so many days of school.

44-year-old Carmen Yoakum faces a compulsory school attendance violation because her son missed 13 days of school in January and February alone.

Yoakum, who has no prior charges or convictions, says her sixth-grade son missed school - mostly because of sinus headaches and nausea.

She could go to jail for 180-days.
