(INDIANAPOLIS) - State fairs across the country are scrambling to find revenue sources as the economic crisis forces government budget cuts.
Michigan's governor is looking at leasing or selling its 160-year old state fair.
Corporate sponsorship has become part of the solution for some states, including Indiana. The Indiana State Fair partnered with a private company to bring in $1.5 million dollars in corporate sponsorships for last summer's fair in Indianapolis.
The Indiana State Fair is trying to stretch its dollars like many others, but the situation isn't as dire here. Fair officials promise the fair will bigger and better. For the next three years, the fair will stretch out over 17-days as opposed to the 12 day run.
With tighter budgets, officials want fair-goers to keep coming. Special values and free shows will soon be announced.
