Last updated on Monday, January 19, 2009

(SEYMOUR) - It’s a trip of a life time - Seymour resident Katie Stam will take her title of Miss Indiana and represent the state in the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Stam is a 22-year-old University of Indianapolis student majoring in communications. She says she has dreamed of being Miss America since she was a little girl and is honored to hold the Miss Indiana title.

Stam began competing in pageants at the age of 15 and won Miss Duneland 2008. It was that title that took her to the Miss Indiana program.

Stam will sing for her talent in the program and has a platform of community service.

Preliminary competition begins January 20th with the top 15 competing in the finals that will be broadcast live on The Learning Channel (TLC) on January 24th.
