Peanut Butter Based Girl Scout Cookies Okay To Purchase

Last updated on Thursday, January 22, 2009

(UNDATED) - You can go ahead and order your Tag-Alongs and Do-Si-Dos from your favorite Girl Scout.

The bakers who provide the cookies for the Girl Scouts are assuring customers there is no concern with the peanut butter used in their cookies.

Little Brownie Bakers, who supplies the cookies for the Girl Scouts Indiana, issued a statement indicating they do not use peanut butter from the Peanut Corporation of America, which is at the center of a salmonella outbreak investigation.

Spokeswoman Deam Pottorff says troops have been given the statement from the baker and have been assured the cookies are okay.

Anyone with concerns is encouraged to continue their support of the Girl Scouts and purchase one of the six other cookie varieties offer this year.
