(UNDATED) - The biggest winter storm to hit parts of Indiana in more than a decade has been crippling.
More than a foot of snow around Indianapolis and an inch of ice down south... on top of several inches of snow.
This nasty dose of seasonal reality put the brakes on rush hour and plunged more than 122,000 Hoosiers into the dark. Yet resiliently, Indiana's 92 counties are holding their own, they're not yet asking the state for resources.
Indiana Department of Homeland Security's Rachel Meyer says at least eight shelters are setup in Southern Indiana, they're not full now, but they're expecting more folks after dark and when the temperature drops.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is currently under a level three alert, meaning staff is available to assist counties and agencies, should they be needed.
IDHS has not had to open its emergency operations center.
