Organizations Join Forces, Create Charity Dollar Pool

Last updated on Thursday, December 11, 2008

(UNDATED) - Five of Indiana’s biggest philanthropic organizations have joined forces to create a $3-million dollar pool to support smaller charities facing a surge in need.

Central Indiana Community Foundation President Brian Payne says the recession has more people seeking help than area charities can handle.

A first wave of $1.6-million dollars will give the charities an immediate boost of about $35,000 dollars each.

The rest will be kept in reserve to be doled out as needed.
