Lafayette Man Accused Of Killing Friend Appears In Court

(LAFAYETTE) - A Lafayette man accused of murdering his childhood friend made his first court appearance Tuesday.

The Lafayette Journal-Courier says 25 year-old Jeremy Knoy of Lafayette is accused of murdering 26 year-old Derek Liphard of Indianapolis. Liphard was found dead Friday night in Knoy's Lafayette apartment.

According to court documents, Knoy admitted to striking Liphard with a baseball bat after a night in which the two drank alcohol and smoked marijuana.

Results of an autopsy have not been released.

Knoy's jury trial is set for April 28.
