(FORT RICHARDSON, AK) - The US Department of Defense says an Anderson soldier was shot to death outside an Anchorage bar early Sunday morning.
Reports indicate 24-year-old Sergeant Evan Minnear was shot while trying to intervene in an altercation.
The incident is under investigation by the Anchorage Police Department.
Minnear joined the Army in January 2003 and arrived at Fort Richardson in October 2005. He returned from a 15-month tour of duty in Iraq in November 2007.
