(UNDATED) - At the urging of Indiana's senior senator and a Hoosier veteran, the funerals of enlisted personnel will include the same honors extended for officers.

Robert Durbin knows the process well. He was a squad leader with the full honor casket team at Arlington National Cemetery. The Army is in charge of Arlington.

Sgt. Durbin---from Randolph County--has deployed five times since September 11th of 2001.

Remembering fallen comrades, Durbin asked Senator Richard Lugar to back his request for full military honors for service members buried at Arlington--regardless of rank.

The Army has announced the change will take place in early 2009--meaning enlisted personnel will not only get a firing party, bugler and chaplain, their funerals will also have a caisson, band, colors team and escort platoon.
