Despite Economy, Salvation Army On Target This Season

Last updated on Tuesday, December 2, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Salvation Army of Greater Indianapolis says they are on target for reaching their goal at this stage of the campaign.

Communications Director Mike Rowland says although an official total is not yet done, Black Friday and weekend shoppers were responding to the red kettles out at various retail locations.

Rowland says the campaign is currently at 24-percent of the overall $2.75 million dollars. He says while donations at the kettles from impulse givers is good, online, mail, and corporate donations are down slightly.

Rowland believes people are waiting in this current economic time to see what they can do, but he's also confident that people are more willing to donate because they understand the great need that exists.
