Despite Economy, Hoosiers Bringing Holiday Cheer Into Homes

Last updated on Monday, December 8, 2008

(UNDATED) - The Indiana Christmas Tree Growers Association expects a happy holiday.

The Association's Judy Reifenberg acknowledges a sluggish economy. But she says sales were good the weekend after Thanksgiving. And she expects the rest of the season to be busy.

Reifenberg says the buyer who took home a ten-foot tree last year may have "scaled back" to a smaller tree at a smaller price.

She says buyers who get their Christmas trees from farms like hers in Fort Wayne usually return in following years because of the experience.
