(UNDATED) - Indiana is anticipating an additional 40,000 households will need help with winter heating bills this year.
The federal government has doubled Indiana's share of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to help people near the poverty line pay their utility bills.
A big chunk of that $52-million-dollar increase will be eaten up by higher rates and a larger number of people expected to apply.
