(UNDATED) - Grassroots advocates held their first meeting calling for a statewide smokefree workplace law.

The advocates are joining the Indiana Campaign for Smokefree Air (ICSA) in lobbying legislators to pass legislation protecting employees in all enclosed workplaces from exposure to secondhand smoke.

ICSA grassroots chairman Tim Filler says its simply a health issue and that Indiana should join over half the country in passing legislation.

Filler says the legislation has supporters in the legislature, but the group knows they have a fight on their hands in getting it passed.

The kickoff meeting held in Greenfield, is the first of a series of town hall style gatherings across the state.
