Last updated on Monday, October 13, 2008

(GARY) - More police are on the streets following five homicides in Gary within 48 hours of each other.

Investigators are going door to door in several neighborhoods asking for leads to stem the increased gun violence.

In one instance, shots were fired at police who were working to locate shooting suspects.

Gary police officials say they are becoming more aggressive in their street presence to get the situation under control.
