(LAFAYETTE) - The Tippecanoe County prosecutor has re-filed rape charges against a former Purdue student.
34-year-old Jeffrey Akard was arrested in September 2006 on charges that he raped and confined a woman in his Lafayette apartment. However, those charges were dismissed in 2007, shortly before his trial was to have begun.
Akard was sentenced in July to 14 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to receiving child pornography.
