Hoosier Panels Discuss Yearly Ag Outlook

Last updated on Monday, September 8, 2008

(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Purdue University agricultural economists are holding a series of meetings throughout the state this fall to talk about crop production.

Starting today, panels are expected to discuss the agricultural outlook for the year. Purdue Ag Economist Chris Hurt says the declining economy is affecting the industry.

The cost of production continues to rise as the prices that farmers get for their crops remain the same. Hurt says farmers could experience a cost price squeeze in 2009.

The meetings will be held in 15 Indiana counties this September. You can call your local Purdue extension office to learn more.
