(INDIANAPOLIS) - Sponsors and supporters were treated to a grand opening gala at Lucas Oil Stadium Thursday night.
The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra provided the first live performance in the new 63,000-seat home of the Indianapolis Colts. John Mellencamp and Stephen Stills were among the other performers.
Former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann was master of ceremonies. Speakers included Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, Colts Owner Jim Irsay and Colts President Bill Polian.
Midway through the event, the crowd cheered as the retractable roof was opened.
