(EVANSVILLE) - Planned Parenthood of Indiana will be attending tonight’s meeting of the Vanderburgh county commissioners.
The organization is concerned about the commissioners' recent passage of an abortion-related ordinance without public input. The ordinance states a doctor may not perform an abortion in Vanderburgh County without having hospital admitting privileges in the county or an adjacent county. The doctor also must inform the patient where she can receive follow-up care in case of complications.
Chrystal Struben-Hall with Planned Parenthood of Indiana, says the organization is also concerned the ordinance does nothing to protect patient safety.
Planned Parenthood officials want to hear public comment, and may issue a response at the meeting. County commissioners meet at 5pm.
