(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Division of Aging is reminding seniors and other Indiana residents that they still have until October 15th to file a tax form that will allow them to receive economic stimulus payments from the federal government.

The agency says over 92,000 Hoosiers have not yet filed to receive their stimulus payments. Most are low-income seniors, disabled veterans and others with disabilities.

The stimulus payments approved by Congress this year do not count as income in calculating benefits such as Social Security, food stamps or Medicaid. Individuals are eligible for $300 payments, married couples for $600.

Even individuals or couples who do not typically file tax returns must submit tax form 1040A with the IRS by October 15th to receive the stimulus payments.
