Last updated on Thursday, July 17, 2008

(UNDATED) - Thousands of kid campers will benefit from a $1.75 million dollar grant to Riley Children’s Foundation from Lilly Endowment, Inc.

The money will be used to for extensive repairs, renovations and new construction at Camp Riley at Bradford Woods.

One of the bigger projects is the construction of the Lilly Therapeutic Riding Center. The facility will connect to an existing historic barn and will include an indoor riding arena, observation area, classrooms and a therapy room.

The funding will also allow for three prototype "green" cabins to be built. They will replace facilities that will be demolished.

The Lilly Amphitheater will also receive extensive brick and roof repairs. In addition, 14 cabins and buildings will receive new roofs, windows, doors and HVAC systems.

Work is expected to be mostly complete by this time next year.
