RCA Dome Demolition On Schedule

Last updated on Wednesday, July 30, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Contractors say demolition of the RCA Dome and expansion of the Indiana Convention Center is under budget and on schedule.

Salvage removal at the Dome will begin in the next couple of weeks. The Dome fabric (roof) will be lowered around mid- September and a section inside the structure will be imploded in late November or early December. The rest of the Dome is being demolished by conventional methods.

The construction is not expected to have a major impact on traffic for Colts games or other downtown events.

Tom Sheele with Shiel Sexton- Powers Contractors says they meet regularly with convention center event people and Downtown Indianapolis Inc. on a regular basis and send out bulletins to area businesses.
