Indy City Council Member Arrested

Last updated on Monday, June 23, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The woman who’s finishing Congressman Andre Carson’s term on the city-county council is under arrest.

Police say 51 year-old Doris Minton-McNeil shoved an officer and resisted arrest after a scuffle at her home Sunday. The councilor called police to her home for an unwanted visitor. The man was gone by the time police arrived.

Minton-McNeil took Carson's seat on the council in April. She works for Indianapolis Public Schools.

Minton-McNeill attended her first council meeting in April after democratic precinct captains chose her to replace Andre Carson as the 15th district representative.

Carson resigned after winning his late grandmother's seat in the U.S. House.
