Last updated on Tuesday, June 24, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Stadium and Convention Building Authority has announced a series of events to celebrate the grand opening of Lucas Oil Stadium.

Most notable is the public ribbon-cutting ceremony and opportunity for the public to tour the stadium on Saturday, August 16. "We're excited to invite Hoosiers to Lucas Oil Stadium on August 16 to celebrate the opening of what has already become an Indiana landmark," said David R. Frick, Board Chairman of the ISCBA.

"This is one of several occasions over a three-week period, and before the Indianapolis Colts regular season begins, for Indiana citizens to visit and enjoy this magnificent building."

The August 16th grand opening event will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the stadium's Northside exterior at 9:30am. It will be officiated by Governor Mitch Daniels, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and other dignitaries and participants involved with the project.
