Eastside Storm Victims Picking Up The Pieces

Last updated on Tuesday, June 3, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Tornado victims are recovering what’s left of their apartments. They were taken in small groups from John Marshall Middle School to the destroyed Falcon Pointe Apartments.

Marion County Emergency Management Director John Ball says dozens of firefighters and police officers are staying in the area to oversee the recovery efforts. Ball admits that not everything can be salvaged.

Several other complexes in that area took storm damage. The east side resembles a war zone, with dozens of downed trees and tarp-covered roofs.

John Bartholomew with the Department of Metropolitan Development says dumpsters will dot the east side beginning Tuesday morning for storm damaged items.
