(UNDATED) - Beware of lightning strikes. It’s lightning safety awareness week and the National Weather Service is reminding people to beware.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Steve Haines says if you happen to be outside when lightning strikes, duck down and stand on one foot. Haines also says staying away from large structures is a good idea.
While the vast majority of those struck by lightning survive, many are left with debilitating physical and mental problems.
