(UNDATED) - Indiana's FBI offices are joining with nine other law enforcement agencies to fight crime online.

The FBI ranks computer hacking and identity theft as its third highest national priority.

Now the bureau will dedicate Indiana resources accordingly, adding eight full-time investigators and three part-timers to form a cyber crimes task force. The bureau previously had two agents tracking computer crime.

Indianapolis Special Agent In Charge Michael Welch says the task force includes Indianapolis, Evansville and state police, conservation officers, the state attorney general and U.S. attorney's offices, and the Secret Service.

Investigators will look not only at the half-billion-dollar identity theft industry, but at sexual predators and hackers who try to steal trade secrets.
