Hoosiers Take Advantage Of MyBMV Accounts

Last updated on Thursday, May 15, 2008

(UNDATED) - The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has come up with a few new ways to cut down on branch wait times.

A handful of services have been added to the BMV's website. All it requires is signing up for an account through MyBMV. The account is free and you need to provide the last four-digits of your social security number and your driver's license or state identification number.

BMV Commissioner Ron Stiver says wait times at branches are already down to an average of nine minutes.

As for security, Stiver says the site uses top-notch encryption codes to keep people's information safe.

The new online services have been running for about three weeks. More than 25,000 people have already created MyBMV accounts.
