Last updated on Saturday, May 24, 2008

(CRAWFORDSVILLE) - On Tuesday, the “American Idol” star and Crawfordsville native, Luke Menard, learned he is suffering from Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Los Angeles doctors shared the news with Menard - telling him his cancer is at stage two. The 29-year-old's agent says Menard has a good sense of humor and that he's expected to be fine.

According to the Mayo Clinic, as many as 95% of patients with stage one or two of Hodgkin's disease survive for five years or more with treatment. The disease directly affects the immune system.

Menard made "Idol's" top 16 before being voted off March 6th.
