(AUBURN) - Veterans meeting in Northeast Indiana say they prefer to travel to Fort Wayne for treatment at the VA hospital there.
Republican Congressman Mark Souder met with about 300 veterans in Auburn Monday, discussing a plan to provide care for veterans at a private hospital.
A national commission recommended in 2004 that only outpatient care be offered at the Fort Wayne VA center -- and that Northeastern Indiana veterans go to Indianapolis for in-patient services.
