(MUNCIE) - Indiana residents are taking a more hands-off approach to nature, which has sportsmen fearing for the future of conservation efforts, such as acquisition of new fish and wildlife areas.
While the number of residents who watch, feed and photograph wildlife is rising, Hoosiers who hunt wildlife and fish are declining, according to a new federal survey.
Department of Natural Resources Spokesman Phil Bloom said there were two other explanations for the downturn. "By a wide margin, the leading factors cited in the survey are 'not enough time' and 'family or work' commitments," he said.
