Businessmen Teaming Up To Help Hungry Hoosier Kids

Last updated on Monday, April 7, 2008

(UNDATED) - Hoosier kids are poorer and hungrier than ever before.

Two Hoosier businessmen are challenging the entire state to get involved and give - give -give!

Former Steak N' Shake CEO Peter Dunn and former Lilly Endowment President Jim Morris are both involved in non-profit groups that target the hungry.

Both say hungry children can have a devastating effect on Indiana's workforce in the future. Bill Stanczykiewicz with the Indiana Youth Institute says just because it's not the holiday season doesn't mean you can't give.

One bag of food per person in the state could put a serious dent in the child hunger problem.

18% of Hoosier children are living in poverty.
