Vigo County Recorder Pleads To Battery

(TERRE HAUTE) - There’s been a plea agreement in the case against Vigo County Recorder Ray Watts.

Watts entered a plea this morning. His trial was set to begin this morning.

Watts pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery involving a former Deputy Recorder.

Two felony charges, stalking and official misconduct were dismissed.

Watts must submit a letter of resignation as Recorder by June 9th.

A recommended 180 days imprisonment is suspended. He will also be on probation for that length of time and must have no contact with the victim.
