New Casino Offers "A Little Anderson, Indy, Indiana and Las Vegas"

Last updated on Thursday, March 27, 2008

(ANDERSON) - Indiana is gearing up for a new Las Vegas-style casino.

Hoosier Park Racing and Casino in Anderson is still planning on an early June opening for what they call a "fully integrated racing-gaming dining entertainment facility." There will be 2000 new state of the art slots, eight new restaurants and live entertainment.

Jim Brown, general manager of gaming, says it will feel a little like Anderson, Indy, Indiana and Las Vegas. He says there will be tremendous economic development benefits to not only the Madison County community, but the state.

The park paid a $250-million dollar license fee to the state-and that is going to property tax relief for Indiana citizens. 500 to 600 employees will also be hired.

Brown says those who have been coming to Hoosier Park since the track opened in 1994, will be amazed by the transformation.

Brown opened Indiana's first casino in Evansville in 1995.
