(EDINBURGH) - An Edinburgh man was telling the truth when he told a police officer he was being arrested on a crime he didn't commit.

42 year-old Eugene Williams was arrested by police in late February on a charge of failure to appear in court. But he later found out he never should have been arrested and that his warrant was the result of a paperwork error.

Edinburgh police mistakenly resubmitted Williams' information a year after he was arrested on a charge of public intoxication and his case had cleared the courts.

The system has since been fixed, but not before Williams' case slipped through.
