Purdue Emergency System Ready To Go, Say Officials

Last updated on Saturday, February 16, 2008

(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Purdue University officials say their new emergency alert system is ready to go if an emergency ever happened on campus.

This after the deadly shooting Thursday at Northern Illinois University. Back in September about 10,000 students, faculty and staff signed up to receive instant text and email messages just in case the university's safety was ever jeopardized.

Besides the messages, the university also has a siren system located around campus. The sirens would be the first indication if there's a problem on campus.
