Last updated on Sunday, February 3, 2008

(MONON) - Monon is getting a boost in its efforts to revitalize the downtown area with the recent announcement by Lt. Governor Becky Skillman of a planning grant award.

The grant of just over $49,000 will fund a preliminary downtown revitalization and streetscape plan for the small town of about 1,680 people.

The money will be used to assess current conditions of the downtown area and create concepts for revitalization and streetscapes.

Skillman said the grant will hopefully help improve Monon's quality of life.
