(INDIANAPOLIS) - 26-year-old Emmanuel McClendon of Indianapolis is being held in the Marion County jail on a preliminary charge of murder in the shooting death of 8 year-old Karissa Hitchings.
Police say McClendon is accused of firing gunshots at the home where Karissa was watching TV inside.
He reportedly had a dispute with the girl's father who lived in the house.
The girl died of a gunshot wound to the head. It was the fourth homicide of a child this year in Marion County, which has seen almost as many of those deaths in the past six weeks as in all of 2007.
