Blaze Claims Historic Home, Five Family Pets

Last updated on Sunday, February 10, 2008

(GREENCASTLE) - An eight-alarm fire Friday evening in Floyd Township pulled emergency personnel from eight fire departments.

The historic home of Anthony and Maria Fernandez on CR675 North and Old State Road 36 apparently caught fire around 4:00pm.

Floyd Township does not have a water tanker and had to wait for another township fire department tanker to arrive to get enough water to get the blaze under control.

No one was injured, but five family pets died in the fire.
