Baseball Bat Attackers Appear In Court

Last updated on Friday, February 8, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Three men connected to a baseball-bat beating death have made their first court appearance.

18-year-old Michael Blankenship sat crying at times, and shook his head as the judge entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf. Blankenship is charged with murder for allegedly hitting 18-year old Robert Nalley in the head with a baseball bat Friday night outside an apartment complex on the city's Southside. Nalley died later at Methodist Hospital.

Deputy Marion County Prosecutor David Wyser says Blankenship hit Nalley after Nalley began to back away from a fight.

Michael's 20-year old brother Allen and 20-year old Jeremy Arthur are charged with misdemeanor battery.
